STEPANAKERT. – A branch of Matenadaran, institute of ancient manuscripts, will open in Gandzasar monastery complex in the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic.

NKR Culture Minister Narine Aghabalyan said all necessary conditions have been created for preservation of the manuscripts, and a research center will work there.

“The copies of manuscripts that had been preserved in Karabakh and then handed over to Matenadaran would be returned,” she said.

In addition, excavations in Tigranakert and Azokh cave continue in Karabakh. The minister said that excavations carried out in Tigranakert are funded by the government, while Azokh excavations are carried out by an international scientific expedition.
