YEREVAN. – Armenian and Georgian governments discussed modernization of border checkpoints on the common border, PM Hovik Abrahamyan said.
The parties discussed situation at Upper Lars checkpoint on Russia-Georgia border that was damaged by a landslide at night, Abrahamyan said during a joint briefing with his Georgian counterpart Irakly Garibashvili.
“We offered Georgian colleagues our help to eliminate the consequences,”he said.
Earlier Armenian Transport Minister said the highway is closed. In addition, problems arose with Georgia’s North Caucasus-Transcaucasia main natural gas pipeline whereby the Russian gas enters Armenia. . The gas supply through this pipeline was suspended Wednesday at around 11pm.
