YEREVAN. – Armenian Agriculture Ministry offers to support cultivation of wheat in the border villages of Armenia, Minister Sergo Karapetyan said.

According to the program that have been submitted to the government, the farmers cultivating wheat in villages located in high mountain and border areas will be offered AMD 40,000 for each hectare. The program will come into effect in 2015. 

A similar program was functioning several years ago, the amount of support reached AMD 35,000.

“We hope to restore it, as it will be useful to involve remote and vacant land and create new income opportunities for farmers,” Karapetyan said.
