STEPANAKERT. -- One of the Nagorno-Karabakh's military units hosted the awarding ceremony of servicemen who repelled Azerbaijan's reconnaissance and diversion attempts (photos).

The soldiers observed a minute of silence to honor those who were killed while performing their combat duty, who were killed for preserving relative peace at the line of contact and for giving the citizens an opportunity to live a normal life.

They are standing in a row, ordinary guys at first sight. But as you know, soldiers, not generals win the wars, and they are real heroes of our time. In an interview with reporters, soldiers are talking about prevented actions modestly.

Karen Ulubabyan was at a military post after 14 months of service, he has never thought that once may be among those who are repelling acts of sabotage.

“I noticed two Azerbaijani soldiers, opened fire immediately and shouted to warn the others,” Karen says.

Then he noticed that one of the opponent's soldiers was wounded, while commander threw a grenade in their direction.

“I was not quite ready for an attack, but I knew what to do, and it's the most important thing. If this happens again, I will be already prepared for this,” he said.

Garnik, soldier of Nagorno-Karabakh Defense Army and former student of Yerevan Conservatory, was one of those who repelled an act of sabotage. Karen said it was the first time he fired at a person, but was psychologically ready for this.

“Soldier's task is not to miss the enemy in every possible way. Unless you shoot they'll kill you or your friend. We defended the military outpost and defended ourselves. We are soldiers who came to serve and defend the homeland. I am confident that the Armenian soldiers will never retreat and will defend the frontier till the last moment,” he assured.
