A church hidden in a timbered hillside is rocked by a female soprano coming from within. The guests standing in Dadivank, an Armenian monastery built between the 9th and 13th century, are listening to the Armenian chant performed by Khandut trying to learn from her large intelligent eyes the secret of resistance existing in this land, church and people.

Khandut was 22 years old when her father, together with his wife and five children, left Lori Region for Karvachar, liberated region of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic. He died five years later with his last wish to be buried in this land.

Thirteen years after Albert's death his family continues to live in Karvachar, the region that has changed much over 13 years. Many families have left the region being unable to resist the difficulties. Khandut, her brothers and sisters continue the dream of their father. They all got married and have children. They did not leave their homes when there was no electricity, phone, water, and definitely they are not going to leave now when most of these problems are solved.

Khandut has devoted her life to solving the problems of Karvachar residents. She is the director of the only cultural center operating in the region. In addition, she is giving the classes of music and history of Armenian church at the local school.

Khandut's illness cannot be cured in Armenia, and her health is deteriorating rapidly. The treatment abroad will cost $25,000.
