YEREVAN. – A new curriculum on military and patriotic upbringing will be introduced to the schools of Armenia.

Education and Science Minister Armen Ashotyan noted the abovementioned, at Monday’s press conference, presenting the results of his first 100 days in office as minister in the new Cabinet.

“Together with the Ministry of Defense and the Yerkrapah [Defender of the Land] Volunteer Union [a non-governmental group that comprises Nagorno-Karabakh War veterans], we are getting ready to ‘update’ the principles of the military and patriotic upbringing of our children and adolescents.

“We want for the ‘guideline of life’ of our schools to include not solely in-depth education, but [a sense of] duty and love for the homeland,” Ashotyan stated.

In his words, the most recent incidents on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border have more strongly stressed the importance of such an approach.

“It’s indispensable considering the geopolitical situation of our country,” the minister added.
