YEREVAN. – The secondary school curriculum in Armenia is one of the most difficult ones in the region.

Education and Science Minister Armen Ashotyan said the aforementioned at a press conference on Monday.

“[But] we need to confess that, after the collapse of the Soviet Union, the curriculum is natural sciences-oriented to a lesser extent and humanities-oriented to a greater extent. Hence the drop in interest in higher education, in terms of technical specialties. Nonetheless, the curriculum in our schools is more complicated than in many other countries, [also] in the very same Russia,” the minister noted.

As per Ashotyan, it is no coincidence that the grades of the schoolchildren from Armenia who transfer to schools in Russia are increased at once.

“Figuratively speaking, a three [score] in Armenia can become a solid four in Russia, if the schoolchild has no language problems,” the minister added.
