YEREVAN. – Opposition Heritage Party National Assembly (NA) Faction will table twenty legislative initiatives during the NA fall session, Faction Head Ruben Hakobyan said at a press conference on Tuesday.

Hakobyan pointed to several of these bills, including the making of amendments in the Law on Postponement of Mandatory Military Service.

“This bill will deprive the children of influential parents, oligarchs, and the authorities of avoiding military service,” he noted.

In addition, as per Hakobyan, Heritage’s faction has prepared a bill on the Parliamentary Opposition, and this proposed law will enable the NA opposition to carry out oversight.

Furthermore, according to the opposition MP, their faction plans to introduce changes in the NA Regulation.

“This will enable the parliament to work more rhythmically and in better quality,” Hakobyan noted.

The opposition faction also proposes an online broadcast of the sessions of the NA standing committees.

“If the committees’ online broadcast is carried out, everyone will see the ‘activeness’ of those [ruling Republican Party] MPs,” Ruben Hakobyan stated.

He added that Heritage’s faction again will introduce a bill on the recognition of the independence of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic.
