YEREVAN. – The Armenia-based cargo transporting companies have suspended their trips to Ukraine.

Association of Armenian Freight Forwarders Chairman Makar Arakelyan told the aforementioned to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

In his words, several Ukrainian truck drivers, who deliver cargo from Armenia to Ukraine, had not listened to the contracted Armenian operators and decided to travel faster to Upper Lars.

“We suggested to them to go by another way, warned about the dangers, but they preferred to go with the quick route, and [as a result,] they were in a traffic jam. As of yesterday [August 31], however, the traffic at Upper Lars has resumed also for trucks, and they have continued on their way,” Arakelyan noted.

On May 17, the Kazbegi-Upper Lars Highway between Georgia and Russia was closed for a month due to flood. And on August 21, the road was closed again, but this time due to a landslide.
