Russian-Armenian businessman and benefactor Levon Hayrapetyan, who is under detention in Moscow, could be released within the next two days, his close friend Matsak Poladyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

“Levon Hayrapetyan’s health condition is very bad; he is already ill psychologically, too. First, he does not get all his medication, and then the necessary [medical] equipment is not in the prison. We have carried out a comprehensive work and hope that we will receive positive news in the coming days,” Poladyan said.

In his words, they have taken various steps to have Hayrapetyan released.

To the query on whether the Armenian authorities have helped the Russian-Armenian businessman, Poladyan gave a negative response and stressed that Hayrapetyan himself does not consider the Armenian authorities’’ assistance.

Levon Hayrapetyan, 65, was detained in a Moscow airport on July 15 and subsequently arrested. On July 24, the Russian Federation Investigation Committee brought two criminal charges against him: embezzlement or misuse, and money laundering. To note, even though Hayrapetyan has health problems, he is still kept in prison.
