YEREVAN. – The resolution recognizing Karabakh's independence adopted by California Senate has psychological and partly political meaning, analyst Alexander Iskandaryan said.

However, he called not to overestimate its meaning, since it is far being from recognition by another country.

Last week California State Senate passed, by an overwhelming majority of votes, Assembly member Mike Gatto’s resolution on the recognition of the independence and self-determination of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR).

Iskandaryan is convinced that the resolution cannot have legal effect, since the American states are not authorized to recognize other countries.

“California Senate's decision is demonstration of the muscles and work of the Armenian lobby,” he Iskandaryan said during a news conference.

The resolution can have political significance, since California is a specific state with the largest population, lawmakers' significant role in the Senate and largest ethnic minority groups.
