YEREVAN. – The National Statistical Service (NSS) of Armenia has issued the statistics on the foreign investments that were made in the country in the first half of this year, Zhoghovurd daily reported.

“It is interesting, however, that NSS has presented the data on investments with a new methodology, which does not enable to compare it with the amount of the investments that were made in the same period last year. That is to say, the authorities have decided to conceal the sharp decline in foreign investments [to Armenia].

“But when Zhoghovurd compared the data on the last quarter of the government of [previous PM] Tigran Sargsyan and the first quarter of the government of [serving PM] Hovik Abrahamyan, it was recorded that solely 48 billion drams [approx. $116,325,854] of investment was made in the second quarter,” Zhoghovurd wrote.
