YEREVAN. – It's unclear how Armenia can stir Iran's interest in railway when Azerbaijan has completed construction of their one, economist Vahagn Khachatryan said.

Khachatryan does not think that two transport corridors – North-South road corridor and railway leading to Iranian border – are promising projects.

There have been no new reports related to railway, and the Armenian authorities are not rushing to organize the construction.

“They are watching how Azerbaijan is completing construction of the railway instead,” said Khachatryan, member of opposition ANC party.

Construction of the railway connecting Russia, Azerbaijan and Iran was launched in 2006 and had to open last year. However, the launch of the project has been postponed for a year.
