YEREVAN. – Thousands of places were left vacant as a result of the university entrance exams in Armenia, Haykakan Zhamanak daily reported.

“The ‘leaders’ in this respect are the State Engineering (Polytechnic) University of Armenia and the Armenian National Agrarian University.

“[A total] of 805 places were left vacant from the 1,365 paid places allocated to the Polytechnic, and 488 of the 1,340 [allocated] paid places were not filled in the Agrarian University.

“[But] Engineering University Prorector Mikayel Harutyunyan noted that the problems that have risen due to the unfilled places may be, perhaps, solely financial. Nonetheless, according to him, the lecturers are not downsized,” Haykakan Zhamanak wrote.
