The Moscow Municipal Court on Friday brought a new charge against Russian-Armenian businessman and benefactor Levon Hayrapetyan, who is in confinement in the Russian capital city.

Armenian News-NEWS.am has learned from the press service of the Union of Armenians of Russia that the investigator of the case brought charges of fraud against Hayrapetyan, whereas the latter categorically denied the charge.

“This is a trumped-up case and the investigator is a liar!” he stated.

The court is examining the matter of whether or not to extend Hayrapetyan’s detention.

Levon Hayrapetyan, 65, was detained in a Moscow airport on July 15 and subsequently arrested. On July 24, the Russian Federation Investigation Committee brought two criminal charges against him: embezzlement or misuse, and money laundering. To note, even though Hayrapetyan has health problems, he is still kept in prison.
