YEREVAN. – Ruling Republican Party of Armenia National Assembly (RPA NA) Faction member Mkrtich Minasyan believes that the four non-government NA factions (Armenian National Congress, Prosperous Armenia, ARF Dashnaktsutyun, and Heritage) will never express a shared view on the Constitutional reforms.
“I don’t think there will be hostility [among them], but they will not unite on important matters,” the RPA MP said at a press conference on Saturday.
Sociologist Aharon Adibekyan, on the other hand, stated that expressing a shared view on the Constitutional reforms is the only chance for the opposition.
“Our current Constitution has one weak spot that the President can’t be re-elected after [being elected] twice. So, the authorities should hold discussions with the political forces on the [Constitutional] reforms. And this is the last chance for the [parliamentary] four to unite,” the sociologist noted.
As for the predictions of a “hot” political autumn in Armenia, Adibekyan commented:“Wait for the rally of the [parliamentary] four; such rallies are indispensable for political psychology.”
