YEREVAN. – It is planned to place a cross-stone at Brest Fortress in Belarus, and in memory of the fallen Armenian soldiers.

Armenian National Assembly (NA) Vice-Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov stated the abovementioned on Saturday, at his talk with Belarus NA House of Representatives Vice-Speaker Viktor Guminsky.

He noted that, among other heroes, about 200 Armenian soldiers were killed at Brest Fortress in World War II, but the names of solely eight of them were found out. Overall, however, about 15,000 Armenians had fought for Belarus.

“The fraternal friendship between our peoples is developing, and the joint recollection has an unsurpassed value in this.

“We cannot forget that Armenians have also been among the heroes who were the first to take the blow of the fascist plague upon themselves,” Guminsky stated, for his part.
