YEREVAN. – The visit of Belarus delegation to Armenia underscores importance of friendly ties and readiness to strengthen bilateral cooperation, Armenian parliament speaker Galust Sahakyan said.

Galust Sahakyan on Saturday received a delegation of Belarus parliament headed by Deputy Speaker Viktor Guminsky.

Sahakyan noted importance of cooperation within international agencies, including parliamentary platforms. The delegation of two countries are successfully working in the CIS Inter-parliamentary Assembly and Parliamentary Assembly of the CSTO. The Armenian lawmakers are consistent in their support to the position of Belarus.

The Armenian parliament speaker invited his Belarus counterparts to participate in the events marking centennial of the Armenian Genocide in 2015. The only method to prevent crimes against humanity is recognition and condemnation by the world community, he added.

Deputy Speaker Viktor Guminsky thanked for warm welcome and noted the countries' willingness to deepen bilateral ties and to work for the benefit of their people. He said Belarus is committed to peaceful settlement of conflicts and will visit Memorial to the Armenian Genocide victims.

Galust Sahakyan accepted Guminsky's invitation to visit Belarus.
