YEREVAN. – The Armenian environmentalists have repeatedly petitioned to the capital city Yerevan Municipality so that the areas of the forests, which have been converted into detached homes, be returned to the people, but to no avail; the Armenian officials continue to carry out construction by cutting down trees.Environmentalist Karine Danielyan stated the aforementioned on Monday.
“They have eradicated all the forests from the Monument [hill] until [the] Sari Tagh [neighborhood in Yerevan]; now, there are solely villas.
“We repeatedly petitioned to the Municipality. We even have petitioned to the oligarchs to manifest goodwill and give the forests back to the people.
“The [Yerevan] mayor, [Armenia] Prime Minister, and numerous other officials have built houses there,” Danielyan noted.
In the environmentalist’s view, Armenia is left without a natural world.
“Armenia entire is lost in waste. This is an indicator on how the people and the authorities treat nature. [But] we hope it will be resolved soon.
“In addition, there is no free place for nature; construction is in progress wherever you look,” Karine Danielyan said.
