YEREVAN. – Minister of Agriculture Sergo Karapetyan on Monday received Greek Ambassador to Armenia Ioannis Taghis.
They discussed the course of implementation of the Greek government-funded “Assistance for the Development of [Animal] Slaughterhouses in Armenia” Project.
First, however, Karapetyan thanked the Greek government and the Greek people for criminalizing the denial of the Armenian Genocide, informed the Ministry of Agriculture press service.
“Within the framework of the project, five slaughterhouses equipped with modern equipment are planned to be build in the republic. We are grateful to the Greek government for rendering assistance to Armenia,” the minister said.
In turn, Ambassador Taghis informed that the last batch of the aforementioned equipment will be delivered to Armenia in a foreseeable future.
Minister Karapetyan, for his part, also reflected on the Greek president’s upcoming visit to Armenia, during which the agriculture ministries of the two countries plan to sign a cooperation agreement. In addition, he stated that an Armenian-Greek business meeting may be arranged during this visit.
At the end of the talk, the interlocutors expressed satisfaction with the course of the ongoing projects, and expressed their desire to continue bilateral cooperation in agriculture.
