YEREVAN. – A memorial event devoted to the 60th birth anniversary of Hrant Dink was held at the Armenian capital city Yerevan’s School No. 44, which is named after Dink, the founder and chief editor of Agos Armenian weekly of Istanbul, who was killed on January 19, 2007 in front of his weekly’s office.

Numerous guests—including Dink’s widow Rakel Dink, several other family members, and Istanbul-Armenian recording artist Sibil—attended the event that was held under the theme, “Years lived and not lived.”

The schoolchildren welcomed the guests with an exhibition of their portraits of Hrant Dink, and with folk songs and dance, the Yerevan Municipality informed.

Speaking at the commemoration event, Rakel Dink stated that it is very moving for her to be in Yerevan in this connection, in the school which eternalizes Hrant Dink’s name and deeds, and to see from the eyes and hear from the lips of the children about Hrant Dink.
