YEREVAN. – The English played on emotional openness of Scots, opposition ANC member Aram Manukyan said.

The politician believes the Scots were too inspired by the exit polls, where the share of independence supporters exceeded 50 percent.

“Once they saw this, they immediately began to talk about it. And the British immediately felt the danger and started to act,” Manukyan said.

Even the Labour, Conservative and Liberal parties united for the common goal, Manukyan said, adding that their opposing campaign brought to final 45 percent.

“I visited Scotland several times, I have friends there, and I got this impression. We all know that the Scots had an aspiration to independence for decades, for centuries,” Manukyan told reporters on Saturday.

The politician said he was following the process with regret, as independence is in the blood of the Scottish people. As to economic situation, he believes Scotland was not doomed to a life of poverty in case of independence.

According to him, the wave of referendums on independence - whether in Catalonia, Wallonia or Lombardy – will bring new trend.
