YEREVAN. – This month the Armenian National Statistical Service has issued a detailed report on Armenia’s external debt in 2013.

In this report, the section on the export of live sheep and goats is noteworthy, as this export has surpassed even the exports of ore and molybdenum concentrate.

Bu the geographical scope of the export of live sheep from Armenia is limited to Iran, where primarily lambs are exported. The sheep exports, on the other hand, account for less than one-third.

And for the most part, individuals conduct these exports.

There is a view that the current export volumes do not harm sheep-farming in Armenia and that they even promote its development. That is why attempts are being made to import breeds of sheep with high productivity.
