YEREVAN. – The monuments, which are devoted to the friendship of the Armenian and the Yezidi peoples, will be officially unveiled on September 29, at the Yezidi Sanctuary temple in Aknalich village of Armenia’s Armavir Village.

Yezidi National Committee representative Sashik Sultanyan noted the aforesaid at a press conference on Friday.

“Among the monuments is a separate complex devoted to the centennial of the Armenian Genocide, and [General] Andranik Ozanian [a key figure of the Armenian national liberation movement aimed at the establishment of an Armenian state during World War I and the following years],” Sultanyan, said.

“National Union of Sinjar Yezidis” NGO representative Boris Murazi added that on Sunday, the Yezidis of Armenia will visit the Armenian Genocide Memorial in capital city Yerevan, place flowers at the eternal flame, and pay tribute to the victims of tragic events.

Murazi stressed that the events, which the Yezidis of Armenia hold each year, will not be as festive, but rather more inspirational this year.

“It’s hard to be happy for something, when that many compatriots are killed in Iraq. And now, it is very important to unite and inspire the people,” he concluded.
