President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan met with UN Secretary-General Ban KI-moon on Friday to discuss UN-Armenia cooperation.

They also exchanged views on the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process and the role of the international community. The Secretary-General also congratulated the Armenian people on the recent  23rd anniversary of national independence,UN said in a statement.

Armenian president's press office said Serzh Sargsyan reconfirmed Armenia's readiness to continue active involvement in the UN and its structures.

In New York, President visited St. Vardan Armenianc church and laid flowers at the memorial to the Armenian Genocide victims.

President Sargsyan met with representatives of the Armenian community of New York and New Jersey during a dinner organized by the Primate of Eastern Diocese of the Armenian of Aemrica, Archbishop Khajag Barsamian.
