YEREVAN. – An unanticipated matter was put on the agenda of the session of the Armenian National Assembly Standing Committee on Foreign Relations, and the committee discussed this matter behind closed doors, Haykakan Zhamanak daily reported.

“The matter referred to the controversial statements which several Russian figures have made.

“We are talking about the recent statements by [Vyacheslav] Kovalenko, the RF [i.e., Russian Federation] former Ambassador to Armenia, and [Aleksandr] Dugin, a proponent of the Eurasian ideology, which [i.e., the statements], according to many, are directed against the statehood of Armenia.

“We have learned that the committee members expressed concern over these statements and agreed to apply agreed measures to counter them,” Haykakan Zhamanak wrote.
