The Kotayk Governor’s Office denied the information that they had exerted pressure on the Hrazdan city residents and forced them not to attend Friday’s rally in the city by the three non-government National Assembly (NA) factions (Armenian National Congress (ANC), Prosperous Armenia, and Heritage).

“I can’t comment on why the [‘parliamentary trio’] MPs have disseminated such information because these news are inconsistent with reality.

“How can we suppress the people, violate their rights? Everyone has the right to freedom of movement and can do what he wants.

“The trio have probably resented [the fact] that so few people came to their rally,” a Kotayk Governor’s Office representative told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

The representative also denied that there were provocateurs in the public meeting. The women, who were standing in first rows during the assembly, disturbed those who were making speeches and demanded that they leave, since their “only President is [incumbent] Serzh Sargsyan.”

ANC NA Faction Head Levon Zurabyan had stated that the low turnout to their rally in Hrazdan was due to the pressure applied by the governor of the Kotayk Region, which this city is a part of.
