The president of Catalonia Artur Mas signed a decree to hold an independence referendum on November 9, Gazeta ru reported.

On September 20 the Catalonia parliament passed a law on holding opinion polls that permits to hold an independence referendum.

Earlier nearly 2 million people took to the streets in Barcelona to support independence from Spain.
