A college student in Taiwan threw a book at country’s President Ma Ying-jeou to protest cordial relations with China, reported RIA Novosti news agency of Russia, citing Agence France-Presse.

The student glanced a copy of “Formosa Betrayed” off the Taiwanese leader, a historical account of Taiwan’s ruling Kuomintang party in the years after World War II, and which is very-well known among the supporters of Taiwan independence.

“We want to tell the president that Taiwan is the country of the Taiwanese and we don’t want the president and his Kuomintang party to continue selling out Taiwan to China,” the student said.

The President’s office criticized the actions of the student.

“The presidential office respects the expression of opinion rationally but condemns any form of violence,” Ma’s office said in a statement.

But no charges have been filed against the student.
