YEREVAN. – The four non-government National Assembly (NA) factions (Armenian National Congress, Prosperous Armenia (PAP), ARF Dashnaktsutyun, and Heritage) have collected the 44 signatures that are needed to convene a special NA session

Representatives of the “parliamentary four” informed the aforementioned to the merchants who have assembled outside the parliament building, and who are protesting against the new Law on Turnover Tax.

PAP MP Mikayel Melkumyan called on those who had assembled to again gather outside the NA building at 5։30pm, to put pressure on the MPs inside and not to permit the ruling Republican Party to boycott the special session like it did on Monday.

The merchants left agreeing to return at 5։30pm.

Melkumyan has designed a new bill, which the aforesaid four forces will attempt to introduce to Tuesday’s special session.

This draft law will enable the merchants to choose between either working with the old law, giving a 3.5 percent turnover tax, and refraining from documentation, or working with the new law, giving a one percent turnover tax, but carrying out documentation.

But pursuant to the new Law on Turnover Tax, which will come into force on Wednesday, a business enterprise will be warned at first, and, subsequently, it will be fined for not submitting a document on its commodity circulation.
