YEREVAN. – Four parliamentary groups will address all political forces presented in the National Assembly to call for a special meeting with speaker on turnover tax, MP Mikael Melkumyan said.

Unless the parties reach consensus during the meeting, the four parties will use an opportunity to convey another special session of parliament.

He noted that merchants are holding a mass rally in Gyumri, and all shops are closed.

Pursuant to the amendments to the Law on Turnover Tax, which have come into force on Wednesday, a business enterprise will be warned at first, and, subsequently, it will be fined for not submitting a document on its commodity circulation. The large businesses, however, often do not provide documents to the small and medium-sized enterprises concerning the products. The government justifies these amendments with the need for taxing Armenia’s large businesses.
