YEREVAN. – Armenia continues its balanced policy and such policy is more needed now than several months or years ago, political analyst Sergey Minasyan said.

The major goal of the balanced policy is not only to maintain balance, but not to allow switch Armenia into a field for geopolitical conflicts, as it happened with Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia.

“Complementarity is very important for Armenia. Being a CSTO member and military ally of Russia, Armenia is on the other hand the second former Soviet state after Georgia that actively participates in the NATO peacekeeping operations,” Minasyan told reporters on Wednesday.

The analyst also noted Armenia's decision to participate in UN operation in Lebanon.

Earlier on Wednesday the Armenian parliament approved technical agreement between Armenia and Italy on cooperation and assistance within the framework of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon.
