YEREVAN. – The meeting of government members and parliamentary factions in the office of National Assembly speaker appeared to be ineffective, as each of the parties remained unconvinced on turnover tax law, MP Mikael Melkumyan said.

“The government's position is that amendments proposed by us are unacceptable. The only thing is that the representatives of small and medium-sized business will not be affected for some time under the decree of fiance minister,” Melkumyan explained.

Aram Manukyan, member of the opposition ANC party, said the talks have reached a deadlock.

“We hoped the government would find compromise, but it never happened. The RPA parliamentary group showed full support for the government,” he said.

The new amendments in the Law on Turnover Tax came into force on Wednesday. According to new amendments, a business enterprise will be warned at first, and, subsequently, it will be fined for not submitting a document on its commodity circulation. The large businesses, however, often do not provide documents to the small and medium-sized enterprises concerning the products.
