YEREVAN. – Microsoft is considering opening a research center in Armenia, Enterprise Incubator Foundation (EIF) Director Bagrat Yengibaryan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

In his words, the Government of Armenia has extended an invitation to the Microsoft management to visit the country in early November, and to discuss the aforesaid plan.

Yengibaryan noted that Microsoft is very pleased with the activities of its innovation center, which operates in Armenia since 2011.

“The corporation tells us that they consider it one of the best from the eighty such centers operating in the world,” the EIF director added.

Unlike the innovation center, however, the envisioned research center will work directly for Microsoft.

“Microsoft agrees to try. Over the course of two months, we need to design a plan for the activities of the center and submit an application for funding,” Yengibaryan said.

In his words, Microsoft wants to also make use of the potential of its Armenian employees to develop this center.
