YEREVAN. – One should not refer to the statement of the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov so that there is indeed an opportunity to advance talks on Karabakh, political analyst Alexander Iskandaryan said.

Political analyst commented on the recent remark by Mammadyarov indicating Baku's readiness to start working on a big peace plan. Iskandaryan believes there is hardly any opportunity to advance talks on Karabakh.

Speaking about the recent escalation on the border, the analyst noted that the incidents are usually linked to the developments over Karabakh peace process.

“This is a strategy of Azerbaijan: the aggravation occurs at the border, then they usually receive a harsh response, then make some sort of a statement, then a statement of conciliatory nature, then a sharp statement comes from the president, not the minister. They swing back and forth, and, of course, it is not necessary to take this serious,” he said.
