YEREVAN. – Armenian National Assembly (NA) Vice-Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov, opposition Orinats Yerkir (Rule of Law) Party NA Faction leader Heghine Bisharyan, and ruling Republican Party NA Faction member Karine Achemyan have participated in the election for the new President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).

The voting was conducted on Thursday in Geneva, Switzerland.

As a result, Bangladesh parliament member Saber Chowdhury was elected President of the IPU, Sharmazanov’s staff reported.

The Armenian NA delegation, which is led by Eduard Sharmazanov, is in Geneva within the framework of the 131st Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly.
