YEREVAN. – Leader of Orinats Yerkir party Artur Baghdasaryan has no involvement in the criminal case launched against an inmate who had escaped from jail, spokesperson for Baghdasaryan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Artur Misakyan, spokesperson for party leader who is also former chief of Armenia's National Security Council, said Baghdasaryan had not sent any letter and had no connection to this case.

Earlier inmate's lawyer Hakob Charoyan said the criminal case had been launched on the basis of a written petition by Artur Baghdasaryan.

On the basis of this document an investigation was launched, and Suren Gabrielyan was arrested. Hakob Charoyan plans to file a petition to call former national security chief as a witness.

As reported earlier prisoner Suren Gabrielyan escaped from the Nork Infectious Diseases Hospital. He was later caught in Georgia, and Armenia is currently negotiating his extradition.
