YEREVAN. – Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan was on hand at the official opening of the ArmAgroForum conference, which kicked off in Armenia’s capital city of Yerevan.

Congratulating those in attendance on the occasion of the Agricultural Worker’s Day, Abrahamyan noted that the modernization of agriculture is a main direction of the Armenian government program.

The PM stressed that Armenia’s forthcoming accession to the Eurasian Economic Union will open new horizons for increasing the volume of export of the country’s agricultural products.

“The agricultural industry complex occupies a leading place in our national economy. I’m confident that the standard of living [in Armenia] also will gradually improve,” the Premier said.

Marking the Agricultural Worker’s Day, Hovik Abrahamyan also awarded the Medal of the Prime Minister and presented the Certificate of Appreciation to several representatives of the agricultural domain, and in recognition of their contribution to this sector.

In addition, the PM toured the pavilions of the agricultural food companies at the ongoing ArmProdExpo exhibition.
