YEREVAN. – Armenia will enjoy, without any exception, all the rights which the Eurasian Economic Union (EaEU) founding countries enjoy.
Ruling Republican Party of Armenia National Assembly (RPA NA) Faction member Artak Zakaryan, who is also Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations, told the aforesaid to Armenian News-NEWS.am.
In his words, however, Armenia is not considered an EaEU founding state, since this organization was founded on the basis of the treaty which the leaders of three countries (Russia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan) had signed.
“And we [, Armenia,] are joining the founding treaty. This treaty is basically open, but there are approaches and models for each country. The approaches for Armenia have peculiarities,” Zakaryan stressed.
As for the rumors about the possibility of Azerbaijan likewise joining the EaEU, the RPA MP noted: “The matter of Azerbaijan’s accession to the Eurasian Economic Union is not at all considered at present, but this cannot be ruled out.”
Armenia signed, on October 10 in the Belarusian capital city of Minsk, the treaty on accession to the Eurasian Economic Union.
