The long-lost Caravaggio painting, entitled “Mary Magdalen in Ecstasy,” of baroque master Caravaggio has finally been identified, The Independent reported.

Caravaggio scholar Mina Gregori has said she is confident of having made a “definitive” verification of the work.

In addition, eminent art expert Roberto Longhi stated that, now, there is an opportunity to see the original of the famous painting, Gazeta.ru reported.

But Caravaggio’s family, whom the painting belongs and who helped in its authentification, have said they have no intention of selling this masterpiece.
