The need for a new Russia-Abkhazia treaty has risen due to Georgia’s aggressive policy.

Viacheslav Chirikba, the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Abkhazia, made such a statement on Abkhazian TV, commenting on the new draft treaty with respect to alliance and integration between Russia and Abkhazia.

On October 13, Abkhazian President Raul Hajimba submitted this new bill, which Russia has drafted, to his parliament.

“Security is very important for Abkhazia and Russia. We need to work together, since Georgia plans to join NATO, and the US is actively lobbying for Georgia’s accession to the Alliance,” the Abkhazian FM specifically said, TASS news agency of Russia reported.

This, as per Chirikba, will be a direct threat against Abkhazia and Russia.
