YEREVAN. – It became clear in Friday’s rally by the “trio”—that is, the three non-government parliamentary forces (Armenian National Congress (ANC), Prosperous Armenia (PAP), and Heritage)—that the “trio” will open a headquarters which, naturally, will be the PAP Headquarters, since the other two forces do not have this resource, analyst Ruben Mehrabyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

In his words, the rally organizers demanded amendments to the electoral law and, subsequently, as per Mehrabyan, they spoke solely with “ifs” and “thens,” as ANC leader and First President Levon Ter-Petrosyan put it, not to fully open their tactical deck of cards.

As for the public attitude, the analyst noted that this may be different, considering the so many uncertainties, and therefore the attitudes also are likely to be very different.

“The trio are not homogeneous. And the people, who had gathered in the square, have different preferences. Proceeding from this, I believe there is a contradictory mood.

“[But] we can say one thing: the trio take advantage of the severe public discontent with the authorities because the authorities do not fulfill their duties,” Ruben Mehrabyan stated.
