In all likelihood, the natural gas cylinder was the cause of the fire that occurred on Saturday morning in Kotayk village of Armenia’s Kotayk Region, village prefect Sahak Harutyunyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

“The boy who died was working as a drover in that animal barn; he was not from our village; we don’t know him.

“As far as we know, he wanted to turn on the gas, [but] the cylinder exploded and a fire started out,” Harutyunyan added.

According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, a section of the reinforced concrete roof collapsed, on Saturday at 9am, of the building adjacent to the animal barn (belonging to L. M., born in 1974), at the fields nearby the Kotayk-Kaputan motorway.

As a result, E. H. (born in 1986), who was inside the building, died on the spot. It was also found out that fifty bales of collected forage were on fire nearby the building.
