YEREVAN. – Turkey is a valuable NATO partner to Great Britain, British Ambassador to Armenia, Katherine (Kathy) Jane Leach, stated at a press conference on Wednesday.
And commenting on Turkey’s continuing policy of denial of the Armenian Genocide, the UK diplomat specifically noted: “We have worked in Europe, for the past seventy years, over a reconciliation plan to have what we have. We see the work that Turkey carries out for closer relations with the European Union [EU].
“But we [, the EU,] also support the Armenian-Turkish reconciliation. The European Union has welcomed the signing of the [Armenian-Turkish] protocols in 2009. [And] we hope that in 2015, which is a very symbolic year for the Armenian people, a step forward will be made in Armenian-Turkish relations.”
