YEREVAN. – Armenia’s Ambassador, Artak Apitonyan, on Thursday was received by Urban Ahlin, the newly elected Speaker of the Riksdag (Parliament) of Sweden.
Congratulating Ahlin for assuming this accountable position, Ambassador Apitonyan handed him the congratulatory letter and the invitation to Armenia by the speaker of the Armenian National Assembly, informed the Armenia MFA press service.
Subsequently, the interlocutors discussed matters that are on the agenda of Armenian-Swedish relations, and underscored the need to expand cooperation between the parliaments and political forces of the two countries.
The diplomat reaffirmed the Armenian government’s willingness to deepen relations with the European Union (EU) and its member countries, and its unequivocal commitment to continue the systemic reforms in the country.
Artak Apitonyan and Urban Ahlin also highlighted the need to develop a new legal framework to regulate Armenia-EU relations.
At the request of the Swedish parliament leader, the Armenian ambassador also spoke on the ongoing efforts by Armenia and the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs, to achieve a settlement to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, and on several other regional matters.
