YEREVAN. – It is incomprehensible why Armenia has not envisioned any expenditure for the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) accession program.

Non-pro-government Prosperous Armenia Party National Assembly (PAP NA) Faction member Vahagn Makhsudyan noted the aforesaid, at Friday’s 2015 State Budget draft deliberations at the NA, addressing the Deputy Minister of Finance, Pavel Safaryan.

In response to Makhsudyan’s query as to why this expenditure is not included in the draft budget even though it will be required, Safaryan recalled that the government does not include in the draft budget the impact of the agreements which have not yet entered into force.

And the PAP MP illustratively replied: “If a family wants to have their child get married, they save some money. They know that they will not have [the child] get married today or tomorrow, but they save that money. And what about us [Armenia]?”

Armenia signed, on October 10 in the Belarusian capital city of Minsk, the treaty on accession to the EEU, whose founding members are Russia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan. Armenia is slated to become a formal Eurasian Economic Union member on January 1, 2015.
