Speaking at the French Institute of International Relations (IFRI), Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated that Turkey had manifested good will and extended its hand in peace to Armenia, but the Armenians had rejected it.

Delivering an address at the IFRI, Erdogan, who had traveled to Paris at the invitation of French President François Hollande, reflected on Turkey-Armenia relations and the 1915 Genocide [of the Armenians], Haber3 website of Turkey reported.

“Despite all our constructive approach, Armenia and the Armenian diaspora have not manifested a reasonable demeanor.

“We [, Armenia,] want for this [genocide] issue to be removed from politics, to stop being a political tool, and to be handed over to historians. We have opened our archives, and one million documents have been presented at this point.

“We will continue our efforts to tell the ‘truths’ in connection with 1915,” Turkey’s president stressed, in particular.
