YEREVAN. – Montréal, Canada, was the venue Sunday for the inaugural fundraising for the events to be held to mark the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.

The fundraising was conducted under the auspices of the Ambassador of Armenia to Canada, Armen Yeganian, informed the MFA press service.

In his remarks at the event, Ambassador Yeganian stressed that the genocidal acts continue to this day. As per the Armenian diplomat, the undeniable proof of this fact is the Islamic State militants’ recent blasting of the Holy Martyrs Armenian Church and Museum in Deir ez-Zor, Syria.

About 400 people attended the fundraiser, and about 150,000 Canadian dollars were donated at the event.
