YEREVAN. – Armenia has grown about 9 percent more wheat this year, Deputy Minister of Agriculture Samvel Galstyan told reporters on Tuesday.

As per Galstyan, in the case when 311,000 tons of wheat were grown in the year past, this has increased to around 340,000 tons in the current year.

The overall grain and pea harvest had comprised 548,000 tons in 2013, but this already has reached 590,000 to 591,000 tons so far in 2014.

The deputy minister added that the winter grain harvesting areas have increased, too. In the case when this had amounted to 106,400 hectares last year, it has already reached 110,600 hectares this year.
