YEREVAN. – All conflicts must be resolved peacefully.

Latvian Ambassador to Armenia Elita Gavele, whose diplomatic residence is in the Georgian capital city of Tbilisi, told the abovementioned to Armenian News-NEWS.am. She stated this with respect to Azerbaijan’s shooting down a Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) Air Force helicopter.

“The OSCE Minsk Group is engaged in the settlement of the Karabakh conflict. Settling conflicts through armed clashes is absolutely unacceptable today.

“Settling conflicts between countries by military means is unacceptable. A settlement can be reached solely through peace talks. This is a long-lasting hard work, but only peace talks with participation by international organizations can lead to a positive result,” Ambassador Gavele specifically noted.

The Azerbaijani armed forces violated the ceasefire and shot down an NKR Air Force helicopter on November 12. The chopper was downed during a training flight, and it crashed on the neutral zone of the Karabakh-Azerbaijan Line of Contact. As a result, three pilots are believed to have been killed: the commander of the helicopter, Major Sergey Sahakyan, as well as Senior Lieutenant Sargis Nazaryan and Lieutenant Azat Sahakyan. There were no weapons in the chopper. The adversary, on the other hand, continues to fire intensive shots toward the crash site, thus, not allowing access to the area.
